Proton hosts international distributors in conference
Proton recently hosted 46 of its representatives from 20 countries in a two-day conference for its international distributors. Themed “Partnering for Sustainable Mobility”, the conference was held with the aim of updating overseas distributors with the Group’s latest news and future plans in various areas.
The conference was held earlier this week from 11 to 12 April at the Proton Centre of Excellence Complex in Shah Alam and Ritz Carlton Hotel Kuala Lumpur respectively. It was deliberately timed to coincide with the 2011 Petronas Malaysia GP, allowing the said distributors to watch the Proton-supported Lotus Renault GP team in action as well.
During the conference, Proton reinforced its commitment to strengthen its brand globally, and also emphasized the need to work closely with its international distributors to this end. To better facilitate this exercise, feedback was gathered on the spot from the representatives present on the various issues faced in their respective markets.
Proton Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir stressed that to be successful overseas, the company needed to ensure that its global distribution network was aligned with its future plans and strategies ahead. As a result, international distributors were extensively briefed on the Group’s future product strategies; shown concept cars and future products; engaged in product surveys, and held numerous discussions on quality improvements and cost of ownership improvement plans.
