Munich Automobiles Holds M Track Day at Sepang F1 Circuit
March 6th 2011 would be a memorable day for customers and friends of Munich Automobiles Pte Ltd, the world’s first exclusive BMW M dealer in Singapore. Munich Automobiles organized an M track day for its M customers (M customers refer to those who have purchased or are intending to purchase a BMW M spec car) at the Sepang F1 track. Some BMW Club Singapore members also came, along with driving enthusiasts from other car clubs in Singapore.
It was memorable in the sense that for seasoned drivers, it was a chance to pull out the stops and just put pedal to metal without fear of police speed traps or other slow drivers on the road, in a safe and controlled environment where everybody else is also going just as fast.
For first timers there were BMW qualified instructors to give pointers on driving techniques and safe driving (at speed), and for those who hadn’t been on track for some time, it was a chance to get some refreshers on high speed driving.
For Singaporeans, it must be very frustrating to have fast cars and no roads to drive fast on. To the best of my knowledge, the speed limits in Singapore range between 80 to 100 kilometres per hour, and it is definitely not fun to have to hold all your horses in check when you have between 300 to 500 horses just waiting to be unleashed.
A spokesman from the company said that this is their first event, held as a pilot event to check out their customers’ response to such events, and intend to hold more of these driving events if the response is good.
