Nasim Sdn Bhd, official distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia, was presented with an award from its principal, Automobiles Peugeot, for the Successful Industrialisation and Commercial Launch of the 207 at the Peugeot 2011 Convention for Worldwide Distributors in Valencia, Spain.

Mr Jean-Phillipe Imparato, Vice-President of International Sales and Marketing for Automobiles Peugeot, presented the award to En SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of the Naza Group of Companies and CEO of Nasim.

“This award from Peugeot is a recognition of our efforts in manufacturing the 207 in Malaysia for right-hand drive markets in the region. At present, we have had over 600 bookings for the new 207 and it is currently the most attainable European offering in the market,” SM Nasarudin said.

Nasim currently manufactures the 207 in Gurun, Kedah, and plans are already afoot for more to come. In 2010, Peugeot announced its intentions to use Malaysia as its regional manufacturing hub and has appointed Nasim as its partner for that purpose. The 207 is currently being exported to Thailand, and will soon be heading to Indonesia, Brunei and Sri Lanka.

Besides the 207, Nasim also launched the 3008 and 5008 while also upgrading both the 308 VTi and 308 Turbo in 2010. For 2011, Nasim has already launched the 308 CC, and there are three more models in the pipeline. The company targets total sales of 7,000 units for the year, with the 207 expected to account for 5,000 units.
