Toyota Prius drops RM35k in price

by -

UMW Toyota Motor has just released a press statement announcing new prices for the Toyota Prius in light of the extended hybrid car tax incentives announced in Budget 2011. Although the new tariffs will only be effective from 1 January to 31 December 2011, UMWT has decided that the new and reduced prices for the Toyota Prius will take effect today.

From now onwards, the Prius will be sold at RM139,900 on-the-road inclusive of insurance in Peninsula Malaysia, a drop of about RM35,000 from RM175,000 previously. East Malaysian buyers will need to pay a slightly higher RM141,500.

Since the announcement of Budget 2011, UMWT actually froze deliveries of the Prius for some 28 customers in their order books. For these customers, this wait entitles means that they get to enjoy the new prices as well. For those who took delivery before Budget 2011, sorry, guys.
