After six years in the market, the Modenas Elegan scooter has received a useful boost in power with the launch of the new Elegan 200 variant today. Price is still subject to approval, but Modenas is aiming for a sub-RM8.5k on-the-road price tag.
From the original 150cc engine, the new variant features a motor fed by a carburetor (ed: It’s been a while since we last typed that word) and regulated by an Air Intake Cut Valve, the engine develops 14.74hp @ 8,000rpm and 14.94Nm @ 6,500rpm.
Drive goes to the rear wheel by a CVT, and the suspension setup features a telescopic fork up front and a double swing design for the rear. Disc brakes are standard front and rear. Notable features of the Modenas Elegan 200 include a vast key-lockable underseat storage bin, automatic fuel cap, and a rear passenger foot rest.
At the launch held earlier today, En Bastamam Hamzah, CEO of Modenas said (translated), “With the introduction of the Modenas Elegan 200, we are confident of increasing our market share to 13% on the back of continuous support from our dealers.”
