Honda presents a City 1.5L VTEC to ICAM

Petaling Jaya, 22 July 2010 – Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Honda Malaysia or the “Company”) recently presented 1 unit of City 1.5L VTEC to the International College of Automotive Malaysia (ICAM) in Pekan, Pahang for training purposes. The gesture was marked by a modest handover ceremony at Honda Malaysia’s sales and marketing office in Petaling Jaya.

“This donation is part of Honda Malaysia’s continuous effort to nurture the budding generations in the automotive industry through higher learning. We hope the City 1.5L VTEC would help the students in their practical training,” said Mr. Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia in the handover ceremony.

He further added that, “City is known as the best-in-class entry midsize sedan in the market. As one of the most sought after midsize sedans, City has an impressive technology under its hood that offers performance yet fuel efficient. This combination of technology could be of great learning grounds for students in the institute, especially in engineering a vehicle that is highly applicable to today’s trend of living.”

Pn. Norkiah Binti Othman, Acting Chief Operating Officer of Hicom University College Sdn. Bhd. (HUCSB) acknowledged the generosity shown by Honda Malaysia. Pn. Norkiah remarked that, “ICAM is a college established by an industry player for the industry. It is not only designed to provide technical and engineering automotive courses but also all types of management and business courses related to the automotive industry. Taught by lecturers with extensive industrial experience, ICAM aims to produce more industry skilled and knowledgeable workers in the country. Honda’s contribution will assist us to realize this goal.”

ICAM’s 4.8-acre campus is located within the compounds of DRB-HICOM’s Automotive Complex in Pekan. Established in April 2010, the college’s setup is in response to the nation’s demand for skilled professionals in the automotive industry.

Honda Malaysia had previously donated one unit of Civic Hybrid to The Otomotif College (TOC) and 1 unit of 8th Generation Accord to The Advanced Technology Training Center (ADTEC) Melaka.
