Lexus LS recalled for engine stalling

by -

UMW Toyota Motor, distributor of Lexus vehicles in Malaysia, yesterday issued a press statement to announce a ‘Special Service Campaign’ for the Lexus LS 460 to rectify problematic valve springs.

Unlike the VGRS recall in May which affects the 2010 shipment of the LS, this recall affects vehicles with 3.5-litre and 4.6-litre V8 engines manufactured from August 2006 to July 2008. Some 100 cars in the Malaysian market are affected, and the said owners will be contacted shortly by Lexus Malaysia.

According to reports, the improperly functioning valve might result in abnormal engine noise, unstable idling, or stalling altogether. UMW’s press statement also noted that no other Lexus or Toyota models officially sold in Malaysia are affected by this issue.

Lexus Malaysia will replace the faulty parts at no expense to the owners. As soon as replacement parts are available, the company will begin making appointments with the affected customers to make the necessary corrective measures.
