Lotus Evora Launched in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 23 June 2010 – Lotus Malaysia officially launched the much-anticipated all-new Lotus Evora sports car today for the Malaysian market. The Evora represents one of the biggest milestones for Lotus since the birth of the popular Elise in 1995 and seamlessly brings together years of engineering heritage with new and advanced technologies aimed at propelling Lotus into a new dimension globally.

Keeping to the true Lotus philosophy of performance through light weight, the Evora was built to project velocity, agility and sophistication and is the result of a bold five-year plan that began in 2006 in which Lotus had underlined a three-platform portfolio for its range of sports cars which also includes the Europa and Exige.

Now, the Evora is set to introduce the Lotus driving and ownership experience to a much wider audience by offering a far more matured and well-rounded sports-car package that retains the world-renowned Lotus DNA. The Lotus Evora is a larger car than the Elise and Exige model range, and is a 2 + 2 mid-engined car featuring rear-wheel drive.

The sports car is powered by a Lotus-tuned 3.5-litre VVT-i V6 engine from Toyota stables and fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a maximum power of 276bhp and a maximum torque of 342Nm capable of hitting 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 261km/h.

“The introduction of the Evora signals an exciting new era for Lotus which is today better positioned for a bigger presence in the world sports car market,” said PROTON Holdings Berhad Chairman Dato’ Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh. “We are extremely excited to welcome the Lotus Evora to Malaysia and given the outstanding reviews and the numerous accolades it has garnered around the world, we’re quite certain it will be well received by Malaysian sports car enthusiasts and owners,” he said.

“The Evora isn’t just a new model, but is essentially an engineering leap for Lotus in which it has been able to not only successfully lifted the international profile of Lotus sports cars, but combine class leading driving dynamics with the importance of fuel economy and emissions for sports cars in general,” added Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar.

Despite its performance, the Evora has an impressive low fuel consumption of 8.7 litres per 100km and produces just 199 g/km of CO2 emissions. “Here in Lotus, we strongly feel an environmental responsibility to future generations, and the Evora is another example where Lotus is seen to make significant steps towards improving the efficiency and sustainability of the motorcar. We will continue to research, develop and produce lighter, more efficient vehicles which are linked to our extensive and well-regarded work on all aspects of future fuels, alternative engines and electric and hybrid vehicle propulsion system solutions,” said Bahar.

The Lotus Evora is available in the following variants and priced accordingly:
Sports Spec RM443,480
Tech Spec RM463,650
Sports & Tech Spec RM472,110
Launch Spec Edition RM490,210
