Nasim revises Peugeot sales forecast upwards
In the wake of increasing demand for Peugeot vehicles, official distributor Nasim Sdn Bhd has announced that they have revised their sales forecast for 2010 upwards by 30%, increasing from 2,930 units previously to 3,800.
The company sold 3,766 cars in 2009, though the now-discontinued 206 Bestari had accounted for 2,347 of them. With the popular model now out of the picture, Nasim had adopted a conservative estimate of its sales figures when the year started.
However, having witnessed year-on-year figures for January – April 2010 triple to 715 units from the 262 recorded in the corresponding period in 2009, the company felt bolder to make a more ambitious prediction. Driving the surge in sales figures was the 308 Turbo, with the 308 VTi and 407 also recording strong demand.
“Our new sales forecast takes into account the anticipated demand for our exciting line-up of products that will be launched in upcoming months starting with the multiple award-winning 3008 SUV in early June,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, CEO of Nasim.
In addition to the 3008, which we will be the first country in ASEAN to receive, further launches in Malaysia for the Peugeot marque are being planned for the year, with the 5008 MPV and the T33, widely known to be the 207 Sedan, next in line.
“The popularity of the Peugeot brand has been rapidly increasing and in line with the strong recovery in the domestic economy, we are confident of achieving our new sales target,” Nasarudin continued.
Also coming soon is a facelifted variant of the 308 VTi, which will come with new alloy wheels, automatic foldable door-mirrors, roof spoiler, leather-wrapped steering wheel, multi-function display, a new front grille as well as auto air-conditioning. Bookings are already being accepted for this new variant.
