Junior Lotus racers debut in Formula Renault
While Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovaleinen were battling it out at the Shanghai F1 Grand Prix, their understudies of the Junior Lotus Racing team made a quietly impressive debut at the World Series by Renault Formula 3.5 Championship held at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragon (Motorland Aragon Circuit) over the weekend.
In Race 1, Daniil Move and Nelson Panciatici overcame rainy conditions and a few rivals to finish in 9th and 5th placing respectively, after starting at grid positions 16 and 13 respectively. Panciatici, driving Car No. 10 was third among rookie drivers in Race 1.
Race 2, meanwhile, saw Move climb from 18th position at the starting grid to finish 7th, while teammate Panciaciti finished 9th after starting in 11th. The combined efforts of both drivers over two races puts Junior Lotus Racing in 5th place in the championship standings, with 14 points in the bag.
A collaboration between Lotus Racing and Mofaz Racing, the objective of the Junior Lotus Racing team is for both parties to help develop future Formula One drivers, starting with the Formula Renault championship, claimed to be the penultimate step before entering F1.
In less than 2 weeks, the 2010 World Series by Renault Championship will resume for Round 2 in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, as the teams will compete again for top billing on the 1st and 2nd of May 2010. Junior Lotus Racing looks forward to securing podium finishes and garnering more points with the dynamic duo of Daniil Move and Nelson Panciatici at the helm of their race machines.
