Kuala Lumpur, 14 April 2010 – BMW Malaysia today introduced two new models to complement the existing BMW 7 Series range, adding one model each at the top of the heap, and at the bottom.

The star of the show is actually the BMW 730Li, which features a normally aspirated 3.0 litre gasoline engine, and with clever juggling with the specifications and features package, BMW announced a selling price of RM648,800.00 for this model, a cool RM200k cheaper than the next model, the BMW 740Li, which has a similar-sized 3.0 litre engine, but with twin turbochargers. The BMW 730Li is expected to make a significant impact on BMW Malaysia’s sales numbers for this year. The BMW Individual 760Li is of course the flagship of the range, and costs an arm and a leg at RM1,388,800 – it is not expected that this particular model will sell in huge numbers.

Said Mr. Geoffrey Briscoe, Managing Director of BMW Malaysia, “The BMW 7 Series has enjoyed tremendous success here in the Malaysian market and sets the standard in luxury and driving dynamics. Now, with the introduction of the new BMW 730Li and the Individual 760Li, we are able to further complement our product offering by providing customers with more options in luxury, agility and efficiency.”

The 3.0 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine of the BMW 730Li produces a healthy 258 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque; zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 7.8 seconds, still a respectable figure, and fuel consumption is rated at 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

Goodies include a rear seat entertainment system that includes two large 8-inch monitors, each located behind one of the front seats. The two monitors are independent of each other, which means you can watch a movie on one, and play your PS3 on the other.

At the other end of the spectrum is the BMW 760Li with its all-aluminium V12 engine, developing a mind-boggling 544 horsepower and 750Nm of torque, thanks to a twin turbocharger system. Zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.6 seconds. The BMW 760Li is also the first ever BMW model to be fitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
