Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd today announced its sales figures for March 2010, which stood at an impressive 4,041 units, a new company record.

As of now, the company is well on course to reach its sales target of 40,000 units for the year of 2010, having chalked up 25% of that targeted figure in the first three months of the year.

“It is indeed a pleasure for us to be reporting good news to the public. Thanks to our customers, Honda products remain a choice of great value. Such encouraging sales record would surely drive us harder in providing the best for our customers,” remarked Mr. Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia.

He further added, “We would like to assure our customers that we will do everything we can to keep our vibrancy in the market, and to give our best, despite the adverse situation. Honda will continue to excite the market whenever possible.”

Now almost a year and a half since its launch, the entry level Honda City B-segment sedan continues to record impressive sales figures, accounting for 43% of the company’s sales. As of now, over 4,000 confirmed customers are still waiting for delivery of their City.

The newly facelifted CR-V, meanwhile, sold 556 units for the month, exceeding the initial target of 350. Upgraded to include VSA and side airbags, the CR-V has a waiting list of 1,600 confirmed customers.

Amongst other models, the Accord and Civic have respectively contributed 19% and 18% to the total sales. CBU models such as Jazz and Stream’s sales stood at 6%.

Next week, the Honda range in Malaysia will be joined by the Freed MPV, which will arrive CBU from Indonesia. Mechanically identical to the Jazz, it is expected to be priced higher than the fully-imported hatch at around RM110k.
