Shell makes FuelSave formula available for East Malaysia

Shell Malaysia has yesterday made available its Shell FuelSave Unleaded formula for users in East Malaysia. Claimed to help save up to 1 litre of fuel per every full tank (ed: Fine print attached, of course. See Editor’s Note below.), this formula is available in both RON 95 and RON 97 ratings

The formula was introduced in Peninsula Malaysia last October. Introducing the Shell FuelSave Unleaded for East Malaysia was Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Director of Shell Timur Sdn Bhd, Azman Ismail.

At the launch, Azman said, “We are proud to share that Malaysia is the first country in Asia and the third in the world to introduce this new breakthrough fuel. Our new fuel is formulated to help motorists save up to 1 litre per full tank by reducing energy loss in the engine, making savings easier. The new Shell FuelSave Unleaded formula is also designed to give instant benefits, meaning it gets to work from the first full tank. We invite motorists to try the new Shell FuelSave Unleaded petrol, available at all Shell stations in East Malaysia and experience the immediate savings themselves.”

According to Shell, the FuelSave Unleaded fuel contains a specially formulated Efficiency Improver, which helps to lubricate the engine at places not within easy reach of normal engine oils. This enables components in the engine to move more freely, and consequently reduces energy losses to friction.

Also present at the launch of the new fuel for East Malaysia was Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad, who said, “I was very fortunate to be the first Malaysian to try this new fuel, when it was first launched in Europe in May this year. I am proud to be the winner of the 1 litre challenge amongst other FuelSave ambassadors in Europe by driving 21.3km using only 1 litre of Shell FuelSave Unleaded.”

During the development of this new fuel, Shell engineers tested the fuel in various vehicles over a number of typical daily driving routes that added up to over 5,000 miles (roughly 8,000km). It was claimed that during these tests, some vehicles achieved fuel savings in excess of one litre per tank.

At the launch, En Azman also announced that Shell would soon be hosting Shell 1 Litre Challenges in Sabah and Sarawak and encouraged motorists to stay tuned for more details.
