Two million Santa Fes sold worldwide
Here’s a quick bit of news from Hyundai. The Santa Fe SUV, launched in the year 2000, with one new model change in between, has reached a cumulative sales figure of 2,000,000 units worldwide. Below are the sales figures sent to us from Hyundai Sime-Darby Motor Sdn Bhd.
In Malaysia, the Santa Fe is currently available in two variants, a 2.7-litre petrol engined version, and a 2.2-litre turbodiesel version.

Total half million sold in Malaysia? Is Hyundai Sime Darby serious? This is one of the most rubbish PR spin I’ve seen from a motor company in Malaysia.
You guys better check your facts before claiming that there are 500,000 Santa Fes on Malaysian roads. You’re actually saying that 25% of Santa Fes sold are in Malaysia. That’s 4000 units sold per month but we hardly see them on Malaysian roads.
I bet Domestic figures are actually Korean market, NOT Malaysia. Somebody in Sime Darby must be slacking on the job.
The so-called ‘Domestic’ figures are actually KOREAN sales, not Malaysian. I’m sorry if you were mis-lead by the presentation. That little fact did escape my attention.
I hope you didn’t think that Malaysia is such a big market for Hyundai that we can account for 36% of the Santa Fe’s worldwide sales?
I don’t blame you. If a Malaysian car distributor gives you some stats with DOMESTIC on it, it would normally be treated as local. I don’t see why Hyundai Sime Darby will pass you figures if it ain’t relevant to our market.
Hyundai obviously ain’t that big in Malaysia and let’s not talk about SUVs. I would have believed if they mentioned better selling models like Matrix and Atos.
