Passat CC and Scirocco officially available in Malaysia
In a brief statement issued to the press today, Volkswagen Group Malaysia has confirmed the availability of the eagerly anticipated Passat CC and Scirocco models for our local market.
The four-door coupe Passat CC will be in authorized showrooms this Friday, 30 Oct 2009, while the Scirocco can be viewed next week.
The press release also quoted Mr Daniel Tan, Director of Sales, VGM as saying “We are excited about these new additions to our Volkswagen stable of cars being offered in Malaysia as we believe the distinct and sophisticated design of the Passat CC, which defines fresh and new directions beyond the mainstream; and the sporty Scirocco, will appeal to our customers.”
“We had very positive response from a pre-sale activity we had organized and we now look forward to not only offering these cars in all our authorized showrooms nationwide, but to also see them on our roads very soon.” he added.
According to official specs in VGM’s official website, both the Passat CC and the Scirocco will be powered by the VW Group’s omnipresent EA888 2.0 TFSI engine. For the our market, the engine is tuned to Euro 4 emission compliance, with both cars producing 197hp @ 5,100 – 6,000rpm, and 280Nm @ 1,700 – 5,000rpm. VGM’s specs also specifically state both cars to be RON 95 compatible.
Both cars are front wheel driven, with the Passat CC sending power to the wheels by a 6-speed Tiptronic slushbox. The Scirocco gets six ratios too, but in the form of the twin clutch DSG transmission.
As of now, VGM has only published official prices of the Passat CC, which goes for a nett selling price of RM239,888 (in the Peninsula) before you factor in road tax, registration fees and the lot.
No official prices of the Scirocco has been published yet, but we have been quoted a “nett selling price” of RM243,888.00 for the Peninsula.
