“We turn not older with years, but newer every day.” – Emily Dickinson

On the back of Ms Dickinson’s wise words, we are proud to present our very own facelift of Autoworld.com.my. The new layout, launched in conjunction with our upcoming 10th Anniversary celebration, is in line with Autoworld’s continuous effort to keep ourselves relevant and up-to-date to our valued readers.

Culmination of weeks of tireless hard work by our designer and programmers, this new outlook brings the main page in sync with that of the Blog and Forum, both revamped within the last several months. Now, with the rest of the site brought up to date, a big piece of the jigsaw is firmly in place, though we have more improvements in store.

The new Home page

In line with Autoworld’s original vision to be the nation’s premier online automotive buy and sell hub, access to the new and used car search engines are now the first items visible when loading the main page. Access to the Emzine and Blog section, where we bring to you the latest automotive news, and also test drive reports are placed just below.

Scrolling further downwards, you would find direct links to the latest topics discussed in our forums. Next to it, is a section useful for job seekers, as we extract from the database of our parent company, Jobstreet.com, vacancies available in the automotive industry. With the bulk of our crowd being motor enthusiasts, and a good number of them students and graduates, some of you might actually go on and land your dream job in the industry. (ed: Speaking from experience)

Near the page footer are links to our various in-house programmed calculators and to our partner sites Tyrepac.com and The Red Book.

New Car Section

The new car section, a database allowing users to research and compare prices and specifications of various makes and models, have been similarly given a thorough revamp. From this page, users can choose to browse through car models sorted either by brand, or by body type.

Dominating the page as you access the New Car Section, is the ‘Latest Model Showcase’ box, which gives brief highlights of the latest cars launched in our market, together with relevant links to our detailed coverage.

Besides going through comprehensive specifications lists, users can also search for reviews of the cars (subject to availability of course) from our testing team, as well as user testimony. All of our test drive reports are now accessible from the New Car Section.

Used Car Section

A similar search function is also made available for used car buyers in our Used Car Section. However, instead of linking you to our test drive reports, this section usefully lists the latest ten cars posted on our Used Car Section by dealers and other users alike.

If the car you’re looking for is not in our database, worry not. We have a feature which allows you to submit to us your requested specs for a used car, and we will find you one. Even if they don’t post all their cars on our database, you can be assured that our network of dealers are very well stocked. Indeed, you have very good chances of finding the car of your dreams with us.

Sell Cars

The new Sell Cars link at the top of the page takes you straight to our the car ad posting form, where you, as a registered Autoworld member, can post an online classified in our database absolutely free of charge.

News & Blogs

Although we still maintain the Emzine and Blog separately, the News & Blogs section unifies access to both of these article bodies we use. At the main News & Blogs page, users can view the latest articles posted on our Emzine and Blog. Given special prominence are our test drive reports, where links to all the latest reports are listed separately.

Under our facelift, articles in the Emzine are split into five categories: Previews, Test Drive Reports, Feature Stories, News & Motorsports. Articles in each of these categories can be called from links to these categories situated near the top of the page when the News & Blogs section is being accessed.

Insurance

Autoworld’s Car Insurance Premium calculator has been around for a long time, but in line with the facelift, it too has been given a new look. However, the functionality remains the same. Users can calculate the amount of premium they need to pay and also subtract off the appropriate amount of NCD.

Online application and renewal of motor insurance through our partner eTiQa is also possible through Autoworld. This service is also provided free of charge, though users will need to switch to Microsoft Internet Explorer before using this service.

Additionally, in-house calculators are also available to help you plan your finances for your dream ride. The tools are at your disposal for you to workout your monthly payments, how much you can afford, insurance premiums and even your road tax.

Finally…

After all the sweat, blood, and tears, we are finally proud to present to you the facelift of Autoworld.com.my, the most drastic project undertaken by this website since its inception.

Rest assured, this is just one step in our continuous journey to improve ourselves. We are looking to bring you more content, more features, and more variety.

What you see here is still a beta version of the finished product. Your response is therefore crucial to help us in our endeavour to serve you better. If you happen to encounter problems (ed: fingers crossed), please report it to us at support@autoworld.com.my.

Until then, we shall leave you to explore our newly facelifted version of Autoworld.com.my! Enjoy!

Credits

A huge amount of credit goes to our programmers TK & Hee, in addition to our designer Chris, designer-in-disguise Sue, and testers Des and Sharon. While most of you are probably familiar with the names of YS, Jaime, and to a certain extent, Kon (TheGunner), the aforementioned guys are the ones working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Autoworld up and running!
