Petaling Jaya, 30 July 2009 – Edaran Tan Chong Motors shifted up into high gear with a media preview of the all-new Nissan 370Z and Murano last night at the One World Hotel in Bandar Utama.

The Nissan 370Z is here less than a year after its world debut, and offers a muscle car to motoring enthusiasts. The Murano is a crossover SUV aimed at the premium segment market.

Now in its 40th year, the Z is Nissan’s sports car icon, having gained fame from the legendary 240Z days of racing back in the late sixties and throughout the 1970’s. “The all-new Nissan 370Z builds on the latest features of both the 1st and the last generation Z-cars – respectful but retro, simple yet sophisticated and unmistakably Z,” said Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd.

With a shorter wheelbase, reduced weight and a larger, more powerful 3.7 litre V6 with variable valve timing and valve lift, the new 370Z promises to be more potent than its predecessor, the 350Z. Output is 333 PS and 363Nm of torque.

Customers will have a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic with manual shift mode.

The Murano, in its second generation, is Nissan’s crossover vehicle aimed at the premium segment. With a V6 engine producing 260PS and 336Nm of torque, it offers the benefits of a SUV, but still is exciting enough for the customer who wants a semblance of performance. Featuring all-wheel drive, the Murano also comes with VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control), Nissan’s version of what we know as traction control. In the US, the Murano has earned a Top Safety Pick award, for being the best overall performer in the front, side and rear crash tests.

Prices for the Nissan 370Z start from RM354,400 while the Murano prices start from Rm318,200 (Prices are quoted without road tax, insurance and registration related charges).

The new cars will be on display at selected showrooms from 19 Aug 2009 onwards.
