Alfa MiTo gets 1.4-litre MultiAir engine
From September 2009 onwards, the cute and lovable Alfa Romeo MiTo will get additional engine options in the form of a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine tuned to three different power levels (105hp, 135hp and 170hp) and mated to either five or six-speed manual transmissions. The 170hp version will be offered in the special “Quadrifoglio Verde” spec level.
Alfa claims that the new MultiAir technology of Fiat Powertrain Technologies can increase power and torque by up to 10% and 15% respectively, and still give a 10% reduction for both FC and CO2 levels. Further helping the consumption and emission cause is the engine start/stop function, featured for the first time on the MiTo.
