Shell-Ferrari Race Car Campaign Well Received

Kuala Lumpur, 18 March 2009 – Two weeks into the Shell-Ferrari model cars campaign, sales of the five limited edition model cars have soared across the country. The distinctive touch steering functions of the model cars have generated much interest amongst collectors.

The touch steering function features the innovative built-in remote control smart navigational function that allows owners to steer up to 15 different directions for each pull back.

The latest of the Shell-Ferrari collection features the 430 Scuderia, FXX Evoluzione, 599 GTB Fiorano, 612 Scaglietti and the 360 GTC whereby each car is detailed 1:38 scale replica.

When interviewed at the Sri Petaling Shell station, a customer, Mr. Andy Tan, who was fuelling up with Shell V-Power Racing said, “My teenage son adores these cars so we buy them every year. The 2009 models are simply irresistible as a few simple clicks on the button can steer the car in different directions. Even as an adult, I am amazed by this function. At RM6.90 each, it is a steal.”

Sharifah Hidayah of Bangi, a housewife and mother of two concurred, “As avid collectors, my children are familiar with and play with model cars at home and even at school. The new Shell-Ferrari model cars make it all the more enjoyable for their friends who appreciate the intelligent built-in remote control functions.”

In the East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah, the campaign has received similar response.

According to Mr. Jones Arthur Dunggat, Shell retailer at Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman in Kuching, Sarawak, “Surprisingly, most of our customers are women who may be interested to purchase them for their spouse or children. The unique touch steering certainly made a difference to the model cars.”

To complement the collection either for display or playability, the Shell Circuit Poster Play Kit and Shell Garage Set are also available in Shell retail stations and road-shows at RM15.00 and RM60.00 respectively.
During this 11-week promotion which ends on May 11, 2009, customers who fuel up with Shell V-Power Racing will be rewarded with three times more points on their BonusLink cards.
