Peugeot 308 Voted Compact Car of the Year
Another award for the new Peugeot 308. This new award comes from New Zealand. The Peugeot 308 HDi 2.0 litre hatch has been awarded the AMI NZ Autocar Car of the Year 2008, winning the Compact Car class. The category winners were selected by the judges from new models launched in New Zealand between November 30th 2007 and November 30th 2008. In an increasingly competitive and important sector, the Compact Car Class was highly contested in 2008. The 308 had also won the “Golden Lenkrad” or Golden Steering Wheel award in Germany in 2007 in the Best Compact Car category.
The new Peugeot 308 received positive remarks on its exterior glance from Paul Owen, Editor of Autocar Magazine, motoring journalist and chief judge for the awards. The 308 range possesses the great French characteristic of an involving chassis, thus appealing to enthusiastic drivers, while offering a distinguished ride, which ensures happy passengers. He then added, “Here’s substance and style unmatched by its rivals in the compact class.”
Most significant point made by Dave Moore, the Editor of the Press, Christchurch was that the new Peugeot 308 was rated as a five star Euro NCAP on its crash test and this is recognized internationally. He also added that “A five-star Euro NCAP crash rating, seven airbags and standard stability control make the 308 a safe family offering.”
“The combination of an intelligent automatic, outstanding fuel economy and performance make the new Peugeot 308 an involving and rewarding drive that is perfectly suited to those families looking for affordable European motoring,” said Simon Rose Peugeot Divisional Manager.
In Malaysia, Peugeot fans can look forward to the new 308 in the first quarter of 2009. Even though the official date for the pre launch booking campaign has not been announced yet, Nasim branches are already taking in bookings for the 2 new 308 variants, the 308VTi and the 308 Turbo. Both variants are 5 door versions with automatic transmissions.
