Georgetown, Penang, December 6, 2008 – Despite the current economic conditions, Hicom-Chevrolet Sdn Bhd is upbeat about expanding its presence and boost sales in the northern region. The seventh and latest 3S dealership opened in Penang a week ago in busy Jalan Sg. Pinang. This is also the fourth dealership operated by Cergazam Sdn Bhd, which already runs dealerships in Petaling Jaya, Prai and Johor Bahru.
Launching the new Dealership, Eddie Chai, Managing Director of Cergazam Sdn Bhd, said, “We are extremely delighted to be awarded a fourth Chevrolet dealership. It is a strong reflection on the confidence that HCOM-Chevrolet has placed in our capability to help boost the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia.”
“Our commitment to deliver on the Chevrolet brand promise of quality and value is well noted by this award. It is certainly a significant milestone for Cergazam following our decision to venture into the automotive industry. Indeed, Chevrolet cars are renowned throughout the world for its world-class quality and value and we are proud to be associated with this global brand.”
Speaking at the launch, Ms Yukorntorn Wisadkosin, Chief Executive Officer of HICOM-Chevrolet Sdn Bhd said that the launch marked a significant moment for the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia. She said, “Today’s launch marks the seventh Chevrolet 3S centre in Malaysia, which reflects on Chevrolet’s commitment and keeping our promise to bring convenience of service and the Chevrolet quality and value to our customers across Malaysia. Our new mantra, ‘Chevrolution’ – a philosophy that is focused on the buyer – is emphasized and carried out in all that we do. At any one of our 3S dealerships, Chevrolet customers can expect quality service and a one-stop convenience form sales to service to spare parts – this is what we mean by a 3S centre. Indeed, Chevrolet customers can be fully assured that all our service centres will be a 3S-only centre.”
“Ensuring excellent pre and after sales service and commitment to our customers is key to strengthening the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia. Our hitherto experience with Cergazam assures us with absolute confidence their capabilities in meeting our mission to strengthen the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia. Cergazam has clearly proven this with the three other Chevrolet 3S centres they operate hat they are truly committed to help us take Chevrolet to the next level,” continue Ms Wisadkosin.
When asked why Chevrolet is going ahead to open more outlets, Ms Wisadkosin replied that the company was looking at longer term objectives of obtaining a larger market share, and that the company is committed to a long term business rather than short term.
The 3S dealership was launched in a celebrative mood that captured the strong synergy between HICOM-Chevrolet and Cergazam in their theme – Perfect Collaboration. The event also saw Captiva owners who came from as far as Kuala Lumpur to join in the festivities.
As part of the Chevrolet objective to build up second hand values of Chevrolet cars, and instil confidence in users, the price of spare parts for all Chevrolet cars was lowered by as much as 60 percent with some items priced even cheaper than its competitors. Ms Wisadkosin attributed mush of the success to the strong sales and marketing team, and the strong backing of General Motors.
“We can now tap directly into GM’s wealth of resources through direct access to GM suppliers around the region. We can now stabilize and lower the cost of spare parts for Chevrolet cars,” she added.
Cergazam is also celebrating its 1st anniversary, and in conjunction with this, the dealership is offering up to RM5,000 service vouchers and 5 years extended warranty for Chevrolet vehicles as part of its Anniversary Sales Package.
