Avanza gets another refresh look

 Toyota’s popular entry level mid-size MPV gets another facelift to keep buyers interested.

The changes are mostly cosmetic with a new bumper and paint selection that includes white and green.

The interior also gets a new colour called greige and it is basically the result of combining grey with beige. I am not making this up.

The dashboard gets carbon-look trim and other detail changes.

THE NEW TOYOTA AVANZA

Shah Alam – UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. (UMW Toyota Motor), the assembler and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, has announced that they have made improvements to  its popular MPV model Toyota Avanza. At the same time the company is also introducing two new variants for the 1.5-litre model.

Since its launch in October 2004, the Toyota Avanza has been the most popular MPV in Malaysia. “It has been 4 years now, since we first launched the Toyota Avanza to the Malaysian market. The model has been extremely popular among Malaysian buyers because of its affordable price,” said Mr. Kuah Kock Heng, Managing Director of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd.

“Apart from the competitive price, the popularity of the Avanza can also be attributed to the proven Toyota quality and the fact that its seats seven people comfortably.  To date, over 110,000 units have been sold nationwide,” he added.

Mr Kuah also pointed out that the new Toyota Avanza, which is the most affordable Toyota model in its product line-up, is the result of the collaboration between Perodua and UMW Toyota Motor, as well as with Toyota Motor Corporation and Daihatsu Motor Corp. Ltd.

“In keeping with our philosophy of making the new Avanza as the most affordable model in the Toyota range, we have placed high importance on the affordability factor while maintaining the quality and excellence that Toyota is synonymous with,”  said Mr. Kuah.

To offer more choices to customers, the new Avanza line-up has been broadened with the addition of two new variants – the Avanza 1.5S A/T and Avanza 1.5E A/T.

The country’s favorite MPV gets better with fresh new looks on the exterior and interior and  improved features.  The basis of all the improvements were made through customers feedback which Toyota constantly studies in order to ensure that its products not only meet customer expectations but also exceed them.

The new Avanza 1.5S gets an exclusive exterior treatment which emphasizes sportiness. It has an exclusive front grill and bumper design with an integrated foglight on each corner and a distinctive grille.  The side skirts (sill extensions) visually lower the appearance of the car, enhancing the sporty image.

Changes to the interior can be seen on the trim and upholstery colour which has been changed from Beige to a new colour known as Greige (mixture of grey and beige). To match this new colour, items such as the dashboard, steering, centre console and door assist grip have also had their colour changed to Ash Brown.

On the performance, all variants feature the Toyota’s renowned 1.5 litre or 1.3 litre VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) 4-cylinder petrol engines and electronically controlled automatic transmissions. The VVT-i technology is now used in almost all Toyota cars today which could boost output, enhance fuel efficiency as well as reduce pollutants in the exhaust gases.

A new colour, Solid White is available in the colour line-up for the new Avanza. The on the road price of the new Toyota Avanza starts from RM 62,000 for the 1.3 litre variant while the price for the 1.5 litre starts from RM 69,900.  It also comes with a standard 3-year/100,000 km (whichever comes first) factory warranty.

The new Toyota Avanza is available at all Toyota showrooms in Peninsular Malaysia beginning 14 November 2008 and 29 November 2008 for Sabah and Sarawak.
