New facelift Hyundai Coupe FX
The new face lifted version of the Hyundai Coupe FX (codenamed GK) has just landed in Malaysia. The Coupe also known as the Tuscani in certain parts of the world was first introduced in the year 2002.
While retaining most of the original design, the latest version tweaks the already sharp styling onto a sportier feel to it. The latest redesign radiates pure excitement especially among the young and the young-at-heart.
The entirely new front end now features sharply raked headlights and a new, more aggressive letterbox-like grille and new fog lights incorporated into the air dam. New side air vents on the fenders now incorporate the indicator repeater lights, while the re-shaped rear features a more sculpted look with new restyled rear light clusters. Twin exhausts at the rear complete the bolder rear end of the Coupe.
The interior are also enhanced from the previous design. It now features Hyundai’s new blue illumination on the meter console and buttons. The blue LEDs first introduced in the new Santa Fe has found its way onto proceeding Hyundai models. The centre console has been restyled to be sleeker and projects a sportier look and feel with metal-look finishes. The metal-look finishes has also been extended onto the steering wheel and air-cond vents helping to bring the interior together with an added sense of quality amidst the all black interior dash and seats. The pedals and footrest are also trimmed in metal. The Coupe came shod with 16 inch alloy wheels wrapped with Hankook Optimo K406 205/55/R16 tyres.
The engine and transmission remains unchanged with the 2.0 Beta series 4 cylinder power plant carried over from the pre-facelift Coupe. Coupled with CVVT and mated to an automatic transmission, the engine develops 105kw(143ps)@6,000rpm with torque figures at 186NM(19.0kg.m)@4,500rpm. While these figures don’t suggest much of a sprinter, it is more than adequate to potter around the metropolitan area in style.
The first batch of Hyundai Coupe in Malaysia has already been sold out even before its official launch! According to the distributor, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors, there are many more units coming into the country from Korea. Potential buyers will be pleased with the very attractive on-the-road price tag of RM 129,917.50 (excluding insurance). Colours variants available are Stone Black, Continental Silver and Rose Red.
points for the car being chic, sleek and simple. Would have considered this car for 120k if the power delivery is comparable to the sr/rb engine.
nice post keep it up.
rych, I think comparing to the SR and RB turbo variants aren’t that fair. However, you may compare with the SR20DE and RB20DE variants.
Depending on which model of vehicle the RB20DE is mounted on, it produces 115 to 130 ps. Newer versions of the SR20DE with Nissan’s Variable Valve Timing (VTC) produces 165 ps. The GK Coupe’s 143ps isn’t that far off……….
well designed
