The All-New Mazda BT-50 – 4WD Light Truck
Kuala Lumpur, 25 November 2007: Cycle & Carriage Bintang Berhad, the distributor for the Mazda brand in Malaysia, have just launched their latest truck, the Mazda BT-50. Capable and tough yet sporty and stylish, the all new Mazda BT-50 is the most powerful Mazda truck ever, featuring a tough new look with a passenger car-like level of fit and finish. Clean, flowing curves converge for a stylish appearance that blends with modern lines to form one of the most sophisticated looking trucks today. Large front and rear over fenders add a finishing touch that emphasises the tough and stylish philosophy.
Central to the core appeal of the all-new Mazda BT-50 is a new-generation 2.5-litre common-rail turbo diesel engine that provides superb performance and excellent economy. Featuring 16-valve DOHC direct injection technology, the new engine produces 141bhp and 330Nm, making the Mazda BT-50 one of the most powerful trucks in its class.
The new engine features VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) technology that allows it to eliminate turbo lag yet still delivers the required peak power output. More commonly used in high-performance turbocharged cars, VGT also optimises fuel consumption and ensures that the all-new Mazda BT-50 delivers excellent fuel economy in all types of driving conditions. Customers have a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
As more trucks get used in the role of everyday transport, the ability to cope with conflicting requirements becomes a major selling point. The all-new Mazda BT-50 is built on a rugged ladder frame chassis that can operate fully loaded on or off-road, yet is supple enough to deliver car-like comfort for the daily commute to work. Strengthened by a unique overlapped cross-brace, its high rigidity is claimed to deliver outstanding handling, ride, load carrying, and safety.
The toughness of the body and frame also helps to provide protection in the event of an accident. The body structure features highly effective crash protection with the incorporation of an energy-absorbing front crumple zone. Added safety is provided by side impact door beams and driver and passenger SRS airbags along with seatbelts that feature pretensioners and load-limiters.
While keeping to its tradition of providing a tough truck, the all-new Mazda BT-50 also brings a new level of passenger car-like comfort and convenience to the cabin’s interior. High quality materials used throughout the cabin are complemented by modern design, which includes clear instruments and silver highlights for a sporty feel.
Individual front seats boast springs that adapt to your individual shape with seatbacks that are contoured for maximum support. The seats also feature a superb balance of comfort and softness while refinements such as storage boxes and drink holders improve usability and make the interior passenger-friendly.
The suspension of the all-new Mazda BT-50 is made up of independent double wishbones at the front, while leaf springs are fitted at the rear.
“The all-new Mazda BT-50 is a tough and versatile truck that will feel instantly at home in the city, open-road or country. It has been built to exacting standards of quality and we are excited to offer such an outstanding product to our customers. The Mazda BT-50 is ready to handle any challenges while making a big impact in Malaysia. Its blend of strengths and stylish looks will ensure that truck fans have a new icon to look up to,” said Steven Foster, Managing Director, Cycle & Carriage Bintang Berhad.
The all-new Mazda BT-50 is priced at RM88,888.00 (on-the-road with insurance) for the manual version and RM93,333.00 (on-the-road with insurance) for the automatic version.
