GRA Round 4 Honours Wide Open Without Ivan Khong
Petaling Jaya, Friday, 9th November 2007 – Top honours for Round 4 of the Grass Autosports Autocross Championships sheduled for this weekend at Shah Alam Stadium will be wide open as the defending champion of Round 3, Ivan Khong, will not be around, and there is growing excitement amongst the 75 registered competitors as to who will take the winner’s laurels this coming Sunday at the Shah Alam Stadium Autocross track.
Andy Kow stands the best chance as he has just spent a small fortune making his Subaru a little faster with the addition of some goodies. No one is discounting Julian Pang, who is awesome in the wet, and it certainly looks like there is going to be some rain this weekend. A couple of events ago, Julian was exchanging FTD’s with Ivan, until a small error cost him the win.
New to the scene are three newbies. Carson is entering his Vios for the first time, and he hopes that he will be able to learn something about autocrossing and make new friends too. Two brothers, also newcomers to the sport, Ronnie and Robin Chong will share a Proton Saga. Kylie, one of the more experienced lady competitors, who drives a Honda Civic in the GRA events, introduced the Chong brothers to the sport.
Speaking at the driver’s briefing, Ian Khong, race promoter, said that this would be the penultimate round of this year’s championship series. The final round will be held in December, and is likely to be held at another venue, details of which will be released later. Ian also hinted that the Grass Autosport Autocross Championships 2008 is going to be a bigger event, with 8 rounds instead of six.
This Sunday, from 9.00 am in the morning unitl 5.00 pm, there will be plenty of action at the Shah Alam Stadium See you there!
