DaimlerChrysler Malaysia Hits RM1.1 Billion in Sales Turnover
Kuala Lumpur, 12 January, 2006: DaimlerChrysler Malaysia posted a revenue increase of 33% with a record of RM1.1 billion in sales – marking the company’s highest turnover to date.
A statement from the company stated that despite the challenging market environment in the automotive industry as well as a limited range of product offerings in the first half of last year, the Mercedes Car Group recorded a 31% revenue growth in its passenger cars segment, thus further strengthening its position as the leading premium brand in the country. As many as six new passenger car models were introduced in the latter half of 2005 – amongst which are the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, smart forfour, B-Class, M-Class, CLS-Class, and the flagship S-Class, which helped to generate a healthy response from the market.
Since its establishment, two new brands were successfully integrated into the DaimlerChrysler Malaysia family – namely smart and Mitsubishi Fuso. Surpassing expectations, the launch of the smart brand resulted in an expansion of its dealer network.
In addition, the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Actros has contributed to the increment of 80% revenue growth in the overall Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles segment. The most recently launched products such as the Mercedes-Benz Vito and Sprinter vans is expected to further improve Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Fuso dealer’s network has been integrated and consolidated according to plans.
Currently with 13 new Autohaus showrooms in operation nationwide and four more to follow, Mercedes-Benz claims to have the largest dealer and service network amongst all premium car marquees. These Autohaus showrooms meet the German standards with an investment totalling RM130 million.
