Alfa Romeo Makes a Comeback in Malaysia

Shah Alam, Tuesday August 2, 2005 – Good news for Alfa lovers! After languishing in no-man’s land for one and a half years, Alfa Romeo is back in action, this time under Sime Darby Auto Italia Sdn Bhd. The event is marked by the official launch of the Auto Italia headquarters and 3S centre at Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

Occupying a one acre site, Auto Italia is a full fledged sales, parts and service centre specially made for Alfa Romeos, and carries more than 1000 line items. The service centre is equipped with the latest diagnostic tools and state-of-the-art equipment from Italy.

This evening, Auto Italia also launches 6 new models for the Malaysian market. The cars, officially imported by Scuderia Sdn Bhd, are the 147, 156, 156GTA, 156 Sportswagon, and Alfa GT Coupe. Price range from RM185,000 to RM351,000. All models come with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty and a free 2-year or 60,000 km maintenance package.

Backed by the giant Sime Darby, Auto Italia has pledged to rebuild the Alfa Romeo brand and take it to new heights.

Auto Italia Managing Director Radzi Zainol acknowledged that the company has the uphill task of winning back the market’s confidence in the Alfa brand. “ This is the moment that many Alfa lovers have been waiting for. Alfa Romeo is back in Malaysia and this time for good. As part of the Sime Darby Motor Group, Auto Italia would like to assure Alfa enthusiasts that we are commited to this business for the long term. We will see to it that after sales support and service will never again be an issue for Alfa lovers and owners in this country,” he said.

According to the news release, the company is investing some RM4.5 milliom in the first phase to set up its sales and service infrastructure and introduce the latest models from the Italian marque, renowned for building sporty and stylish performance cars.

In conjunction with the launch of Alfa Romeo, Auto Italia will be holding a test drive session, open to the public at its main branch in Glenmarie on August 6 and 7, 2005, from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
