Maserati Quattroporte, the flagship car of the Italian Trident marque, has gained the prestigious “2004 Import Car of the Year” award, given by the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Association (JAHFA).
The award ceremony took place on November 15th at the National Science Museum in Tokyo.
The Quattroporte has gained the “2004 Import Car of the Year” award due to points scored in the following areas:
– The brand image
– Its timeless styling achieved through a perfect integration of tradition and innovation
– Its sophisticated craftsmanship
– Having the excellent value for money in this market sector
– Being the ultimate choice for the car connoisseur
This prize is one of the many prestigious international awards received by the Quattroporte, together with the Red Dot Design Award, one of the oldest and most important in design world, the Best Luxury Car in Show, received on May the 28th during the British International Motor Show, and the Best Imported “Luxury Sedan” title, given by Auto Motor und Sport, the most famous German magazine, in February.
Quattroporte was first unveiled in Japan on October the 22nd 2003, at the International Motor Show in Tokyo, then went on to be exhibited two days later at the Italian Embassy in the presence of Ferrari – Maserati Group President Luca di Montezemolo, the Ambassador Mario Bova, the local authorities and international press.
Since going on sale in April, more than 250 Quattroporte have been sold in Japan, the waiting list is now a few months long.
It is interesting to notice that, despite Japan being a right-hand drive market, Italian sportcars like the Quattroporte are mostly ordered in left-hand drive, because they are exotic luxury items.
