First Malaysians to Experience Hybrid Technology

Apart from motoring journalists and those who work in the car companies, most Malaysians have never had a chance to drive cars with powerplants of the future. However, three Malaysians have had that chance with the Honda Civic Hybrid which they were given the use of for a week.

The three Malaysians – Lee Hooi Ling, Leonard Wan Luen Seng and Lim Chay Ming – had won this rare opportunity when they were judged Grand Prize winners of the Honda Civic Hybrid ‘Be Civic Minded’ Slogan Contest which had been run in conjunction with a roadshow at the MidValley Megamall late last year.

Over 4,700 entries were received for the event and each winner not only got the use of the Civic Hybrid for a week but also a 3-day/2-night package at the Avillion Village Resort in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, plus a cash prize of RM1,000.

“We hope the winners will enjoy learning more about the Civic Hybrid’s cutting-edge technologies and we look forward to hearing their feedback about the car, ” said Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director/CEO Seiji Kuraishi Mr. Kuraishi.

The Honda Civic Hybrid is one of the world’s most fuel-efficient, 5-seat, petrol-powered production vehicles and has since been introduced in Japan, the USA, Thailand, Singapore and United Kingdom. It is also available in Malaysia for RM118,888 (on-the-road) which is a very special price considering that UMW Toyota Motor had indicated the Toyota Prius would cost at least RM200,000.

The model can be ordered through selected Honda dealers nationwide and to find out the one nearest to you, call the Honda Malaysia toll-free line which is 1-800-88-2020.
