Porsche 911 40th Anniversary Edition
The Porsche 911 (known as ‘996’ internally) is certainly headed for a big entry in the history book of sportscars. 40 years on, it remains faithful to the original concept in the same distinctive shape, albeit with some refinements over the years.
To celebrate this milestone, Porsche has come out with an anniversary model which will be produced in only 1,963 copies and only in GT Silver metallic (until now only offered with the 450 kW/612 bhp Carrera GT).
The 911 anniversary model has front air intakes that come from the 911 Turbo and expressive details like left and right sill trims, polished 18-inch Carrera wheels and high-gloss polished exhaust tailpipes. A sliding sunroof and bi-xenon headlight units are among the standard features.
The 3.6-litre flat-six engine has 25 bhp more than the regular 911 engine, meaning 254 kW/345 bhp, and this is mostly apparent in the higher end. Along with a direct accelerator pedal linkage, this special version is claimed to be a second quicker when accelerating from 0 to 200 km/h (16.5 seconds), while maximum speed is raised to 290 km/h.
The body of the car sits 10 mm lower than a standard car and has firmer suspension while an additional rear axle mechanical differential lock can enhance rear wheel traction to achieve the best acceleration. Needless to say, the sophisticated Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is fitted as standard.
This anniversary version is the 13th 911 currently available and the second fastest production car in the Porsche range after the GT3. In Germany, the price is to be 95,616 euros – RM412,506 at current exchange rates; and at current import duties, you would probably have to pay at least RM1 million to Auto Eurokars if you want one.dary
