8th Branch for Auto Bavaria Opens
Auto Bavaria, which handles the sales and distribution of locally-assembled BMW cars in Malaysia, has expanded the BMW network in the country with the opening of its eighth branch in Kuala Lumpur. The new branch, which was officially opened tonight, is in the Bukit Bintang area, a notable entertainment and night-life district of the Federal Capital.
There’s an 11,000 sq ft BMW showroom (cars and bikes) with two levels as well as another 2,000 sq ft showroom nearby which is only for Mini. The latter is the first dedicated Mini outlet in Malaysia. Interestingly, the site was where Asian Auto, Malaysia’s oldest motoring magazine (excluding the one produced by AAM), had its first office back in 1973.
“These new facilities are as a ‘one-stop centre’ that showcases BMW’s latest motorcycles and cars. The set-up is such that our customers can view the various models on display in air-conditioned comfort, and even have a drink at our café bar. They can also hop over next door to take a closer look at the new Mini,” said Rajan Thurairatnam, Managing Director of Auto Bavaria.
In conjunction with the official opening, Auto Bavaria has relaunched the BMW range of motorcycles in Malaysia. This should be welcome news for local motorcycle enthusiasts as the German luxury marque’s hugely successful Motorcycle Division has added a record five new models to its vast line-up in the past two years.
Auto Bavaria has brought in nine models, namely Funduro F 650GS and F 650CS; the R 1150R, R 1150GS, R 1100S and R 1150RT sports tourers; the K 1200RS and K 1200LT luxury tourers; and the R 1200C Independent cruiser. Prices of the BMW motorcycles (excluding insurance) range from RM49,000 to RM115,000.
