It will be motorshow time again on September 5 2003 when the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2003 (KLIMS 2003) opens its doors at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The 10-day event has the theme of ‘Leading The Way Forward’ and is the fifth one to be organized by the MAA (the Malaysian Automotive Association, an association merged from the former Malaysian Motor Traders Association and Malaysian Motor Vehicle Assemblers Association).

“KLIMS 2003 will showcase the world’s freshest, spiciest, most awe-inspiring automotive thoroughbreds and have the most tailored, most diversified and most innovative automotive product portfolio in the industry,” said Aishah Ahmad, President of the MAA.

“The event in 2000 was the largest motorshow ever organized in Malaysia and is listed in The Malaysian Book of Records, and for the 2003 event, we will go further. The exhibition floor area will be more than 20,000 square metres over different levels and we expect at least 350,000 visitors to attend,” she added.

Most car companies are expected to display prototypes or imported models rather than the everyday ones which can be seen in their showrooms. There will also be many supporting activities to draw crowds, including contests, an invitational golf tournament and of course, a ‘Miss KLIMS 2003’ contest. No less than 25 makes of vehicles from nine different countries will be present.

The organizers have promised a spectacular event and aim to out-class other similar regional events such as the Bangkok Motorshow and the Singapore Motorshow.
