New Honda CR-V to Be Launched Next Week
DRB-Oriental-Honda (DOH) will be launching the locally-assembled 2nd generation Honda CR-V on Tuesday, April 2nd – again a speedy introduction considering that the Japanese launch was only last September. The first market in ASEAN to get the new CR-V was Singapore but Thailand was the first to assemble it and launched the model in that market in January.
The new model has an entirely new design and the first application (in a Malaysian-assembled model) of the advanced Honda i-VTEC engine.
Honda executives remain tight-lipped about the price but have previously hinted that it will cost no more than RM150,000 – on the road with insurance premium included. This should put it in direct competition with the slightly cheaper Ford Escape as well as the slightly more expensive Mitsubishi Airtrek.
According to a DOH source, deliveries will also commence next week and there are already 120 orders in hand since dealers began accepting orders.
Full details of the locally-assembled model plus first driving impressions will be published on April 2nd. In the meantime, if you want to have an idea of the new CR-V, click on the link below to read our previous story when the model was launched in Japan and the USA.
