Castrol Appointed Global Supplier for Ford PAG

by -

Lubrication specialists Castrol have signed a contract with three makes of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group (PAG) — Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar — to be the supplier of first-fill lubricants and engine oils at all PAG facilities worldwide. The association is expected to last till at least 2006.

Under the terms of the contract, Castrol will develop dedicated lubricants for the PAG companies and there will be a program of co-engineering in the lubricants field. Castrol, which is now part of the BP Group, will also be involved in the motorsports activities of Jaguar and Volvo. Caltex/Texaco was previously the oil supplier for the Jaguar F1 team.

In as far as Malaysia is concerned, this would mean that Castrol lubricants would be used at the Swedish Motor Assemblies plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, where Volvos and the Land Rover Discovery Td5 are being assembled. It is not known if Castrol was already a supplier earlier but the British oil company does supply to various assembly plants in Malaysia.

Its most significant association with an automaker here is the “smart partnership” it has with Perodua which has seen Castrol Malaysia developing specific engine oils for the national car company under the M-Tec brand.
