Magma vs Orion vs Megavalve

orion is magma or not ?
then megavalve is 12V .
one question here , i heard the 8V has certain advantages when compared
to 12V . what is it ? it has more low-end torque ?

on the door and bumber.
Magma is 8 V engine on 2 nd gen Saga (With Black Things) and 1st gen Saga
Megavalve is 12V engine that on 1990 Saga, eg 2nd Gen Saga Auto.
Now I drive a 8V car (non-proton), I can feel the low-end torque is
better, but only when below 4000rpm, after that , you will feel the car
But most of the time, Megavalve engine are more powerful and save more
fuel that Magma one. My dad own them before, Saga 8V AT and Saga 12V AT
both of them are new car.

The Megavalve engine is actually an evolution of the Magma engine. Notice
that they share the same engine codes (i.e. 4G13/4G15).
Last time, my family used to have a first batch Wira 1.5. There was
a 'Magma 12 Valve' sticker in the engine bay.

from there till end of 1987.
At this period, 70-80% of the car parts was fully import by Proton from
MMC (Mitsubishi). So ppl do call Orion as Cyclone engine.
For 1.3cc it`s call G13B and for 1.5 its call G32B
It`s running on 8valve engine.
When 1989 to mid 1990, Proton pulak promoting their newer engine with is
8v Magma. I would said it`s a improve version of Orion series especially
the carburator part (heard lot problem in Orion).
The code for 1.3cc was 4G13 and 1.5cc was 4G15. Note that when they
upgrade the engine, chasis and gearbox for Magma is NO longer same as
In the mid of 1990, Proton then came out with Proton Megavalve with was
12v engine. For this series, almost everything is still the same as Magma
Saga (that why till today Iswara 12v still have Magma sticker) except
some changes of the interior colour and the last batch (which was 1992)
come with Iswara meter.
OK, let talk about power wise between Magma and Megavalve. Magma tend to
have better torque (pickup) since it`s running on less valve and power
can be produce fast (in layman term) but when come to top end 12v will be
much better and smoother with less vibration.
This is a small finding that i have so far....since i am also driving one

up to 4500rpm,the speed is inclining fast but after that it slows down..
pickup is damn good compared to megavalve, hav tried wheel spin in 2nd
b4..ehehe..but problems wit carb,canot b repaired..somehow the car drinks
petrol n later on makan black oil..my mec keep asking me to change to
megavalve 4G15 he said that 'baby' rocks, smooth, powerful n got lesser
problems..dunno how far izit true lar..
wat i found out was megavalve runs smoother than magma, u can feel it
while stepping on the pedals..i find that megavalve's pedal lighter than
magma..dunno whether u guys agree or not but just sharing my experience..

8v Magma should last longer then 12v since it's still built by Mitsubishi
especially the block compare to 12v. Errr..how come your carb spoiled ? U
must be ichy hand tune it ler.
FYI, carb is very sensitive mechanisim. If it's OK don't simply go and
mess up with it else once it's "timing" lari you have to have a Ultra
good carb tuner to tune it back compare to EFI all control by MUT
Mind 8v or 12v ? Heehehe...what you think ? Nexttime you see for yourself
lah. Same as Iswara engine.

i had major accident..i dunno...according to my mec,one of the spring is
not functioning properly..wen it opens, sumtimes it doesn't close
fully, stuck half way,i dunno wat mechanism he is reffering to..so my
engine timing up,down,up,down..he did sum tweaking so the up,down,up,down
dun ocur so frequently..there is no spare part 4 dat,so he adviced me to
bear wit it until sumting big happens then swap engines..hehehe..but wen
dat sumting big happen,i decided to sell the car..i still miss the car
man,the blady pickup is amazing
