I've been offered an 2.0L EXL-i, auto half cut for RM3000++ (full part
include head lamp etc), is it a good deal? I've been looking for this
half cut spec, so is it just 130bhp, DOHC & twin cam? Besides, is this
head lamp a 2 piece instead of 1 piece? According to the sales person, I
can get cheaper, RM 2000+ if I don't want some of the items (I think he
means head lamp, bumper so on)or trade i my old part, so shall I accept
the offer? Or
Am I better find the 2.0L Si half cut, which has 150 bhp? BTW, is the for
Honda Inspire and is the head lamp of it suitable to be put on SM4?
Thanks.

That is the exact same engine that I am using. No DOHC tho..
At RM 3000++..that's quite exp.(dunno..maybe prices have gone up of late)
I guess u cud ditch the parts that u don't require to keep cost down or
maybe keep them at home for rainy days..Do start up the engine and bring a
knowledgeable friend or a mechanic to help u out in ascertaining the
condition of the engine.....
Hmm...personally I wud go for the DOHC...20 extra horses doesn't sound
that bad either for the same money.

Inspire have different dimensions to sm4 accord by being wider and
longer. I doubt the headlamp fits..

hwchua,
If u thinkin of a swap, the site below may help. F series engine (such as
the F20A)are not recommended for ur 3rd gen accord as it involves
customisation of parts and very difficult to do.
The website recommends B20A, B16A and B18C engines instead.

If the leaks are ur only concern, u shud just replace the oil seals for
the parts u mentioned. U still need to replace the seals even if u do an
engine swap..which means more $$$.....

hope this helps..

Hi Putone,

I think maybe the half cut that offered to me is Si model, since the
fellow tell me it's a DOHC & twin cam engine (so far we talk through
phone only & I'm not seeing the half cut by myself yet), cause if it's
EXi, it shouldn't have DOHC, right?
So is RM3k for 2.0 Si half cut worth the buy? Then is the automatic
version also having 150bhp?
Besides, I heard someone say that the SM4 auto gear box having a lot of
prob, dunno is it true and which model is it pointing to?
BTW, is the accord 6th gen half-cut with i-VTEC engine popular? What the
price is it? Can it be transplanted into SM4? Well, just curious.

hwchua,
It'll be a good idea to change the seals (timing belt, water pump oso) for
that matter since the ones that come wif the halfcut cud probably be worn
after all these years. U wudn't want to see ur newly transplanted VTEC
killa leaking won't u? Gosh..I'd change the engine mountings also for
peace of mind(u cud always check 1st to see whether the parts are till
usable or not)

ahchi,
yepp..150hp same for auto or manual. SM4 auto gbox is somewhat jerky in
its operation. Dunno if u cud classify this as a problem. i'd say its
just the normal characteristic. By the way i'd already change mine
sometime back. Just make sure u change the ATF religiously and refrain
from shifting from D4 to D3 at high speeds. Use the sports mode instead
for more ooomph.

i-vtec halfcut - great engine, great 5 speed autobox..problem is u won't
find one easily. Even if u do, won't be cheap and won't just fit. Notice
that the intake manifold is totally the other way round. says a lot about
the mountings man....

Yeah, forgot to ask you Putone, how to differentiate both 2.0 Si & 2.0
EXi from the half cut apperance? Thanks
