I recently bought 2 pieces Efficientgrip 205/55/R16. They are made in China. So far they are not disappointing but haven't run in yet.

Over the weekend, have put in close to 500km on it.
Background:
Traded in my 2 month old CDrive 2 for the Efficientgrip. Its not that the CDrive 2s were bad. They were pretty decent for what i paid for them. Reasonably quiet and comfortable yet with a certain level of performance on hand. But they had high rolling resistance, even when pumped at 34.5psi cold. And while quiet, they emit quite a loud growl on the highway.
Myreview of the Efficientgrip:
Noise:
The efficientgrip is silent. No doubt about it. At low speeds up till 80kmh, the difference may not be much vs the CD2, but above 80kmh, the noise stagnates. There is no change in noise even if you go faster. This is very unlike the CD2 which noise rises with speed. By 140kmh, there is only wind noise. Coupled to the soundproofing i did prior, it gives my car a nice airy silence at speed.
Handling:
The efficientgrip is a comfort tyre, and i was expecting it to just roll over and play dead around corners. I was wrong. This is one helluva neutral tyre. There is very little understeer, and steering remains neutral around tight high speed corners such as highway exit ramps towards the toll. Very nice steering feel. Better than the CD2 which at low speeds tend to be ponderous and heavy. For some reason the car seems more composed too. There is no scrumbbing sound around corners as well. It doesnt seem to give up anything on grip as well but i will reserve my comment till i drive in the wet.
Ride:
Not a bad performance from Efficientgrip, considering the good handling it gives and its eco credentials. Usually good handling tyres and eco tyres would give a stiff hard ride, but the Efficientgrip is nice and stable. Very serene and compose over bumps and around corners. Very smooth. Bumps are absorbed nicely. Still, sharp edged bumps would make it feel abit flinty.
Rolling Resistance:
This tyres rolls easier than the CD2. Really obvious when maintaining cruising speeds. A light accelerator pedal pressure is all thats needed, while with the CD2 i would need a little more pressure to sustain the same given speed. Car also coasts easier. Will track the fuel consumption to gauge results.
Summary:
For a driver like me that values comfort and silence yet not willing to give up handling, the Effcientgrip is what the doctor ordered. I paid a little more than CD2, but I feel the premium is worth it. Its a very balanced tyre, with the right amounts of silence, comfort, rolling resistance and handling that i am looking for. Plus, it comes with a rim protector even for this size of tyre (very rare feature in this 60 series size). The nly downside is its slightly flinty ride on sharp edges, as well as a unattractive looking thread design (looks quite normal). But put that aside and the tyre really delivers.
I will give more reviews, probably when i put more miles on it. And also have to wait for the wet weather come, which doesnt look like anytime soon with all the haze around.

Heard some sizes are from their factory in China.
However Michelin have also step up their tyre for this category in the Primacy 3ST...
