I have a 1997 B14 and sometimes, I have to turn the key several times before it starts. Sometimes got lights and sometimes got no lights. And when driving, sometimes, everything switched off. Even the clock reset. Luckily it is manual, so it restarts easily. Are these 2 separate problems? My foreman does not know what to do so I am looking for a wireman but it is now by the roadside, unable to start. Battery is good. Any ideas? I am thinking of changing the ignition switch to start with.

Best to get wire man to check before changing anything. Clock reset and power goes off seems to be a loose wire or something....

after a few time to workshop, i had change a new battery, a new starter and rewiring on the battery connection.
today, i cant start the car again.. so before call tow truck or road assistant, i goto a workshop nearby for help. when the foreman come and he start the car when gear in P, no sound at all. Then he shift the gear to D position... Amazingly, the engine is started again... the foreman explained that due to wear and tear on of the part (forgot to ask the name), the car will encounter this problem.. he said will cost 300+ for replaced it.
so next time if any member also facing cannot start the engine, maybe try shift the gear to N or P or D... and try start the car then call for help.

I think is the gear position selector.
But Isn't starting in D dangerous, suddenly accelerate then bang something. Or is it in D but not actually in D?

When driving is the gear lever in D? Because if selector is faulty what is shown is not what gear it is in.....
