I happened to take a look at my Iswara's alternator belt two days ago,
a Mitsuboshi 4PK 865, the flat, ribbed type, and noted a minor tear,
more like a scratch, half to an inch long, along (not across) the TOP
part of the belt, where the fabric part is.

I had a close look at its nylon side or edge and bottom ribbed rubber part,
with a mirror and torchlight, and they still looked good.

It looked more like a scratch, possibly from a flying stone or pebble,
because it was shallow and and hadn't cut into the bottom ribbed rubber.

Pretty much like a scratch or minor tear on the top of or skin.

I had my car's aircon man, Ah Tee, in Kepong, take a look, and he
said it was no problem and was still fully usable.

This young Burmese guy passing by in Jln SS3/31, near where I usually
take my lunch, who was a former mechanic, had a look and said it was
nothing too - he said that was just the top ''cloth''' part and had seen
many cases like that in his former job.

The belt has done about 34,000 km.

I was wondering what the experienced users here might think ?

I've been told this belt normally lasts at least 60,000 km ?

You got two experts look at it already, and they say still good no need ask us already because we can't see it so cannot comment....haha

Moreover the failed part usually is the ribbed part, if got sign of cracks then change it..... :P
