Search d forums from bmwclub malaysia. Full details on maintenance cost listed there.

On a separate note,if u r looking for a sportier ride, look up 325i but remember, sportier would mean higher maintenance. If u r concern about maintenance, perhaps a japanese car would be better. The 320i u are looking at is 7 years old. There are quite a few major items that u need to tend to for a car of this age. It wont be cheap though but once u get it settled, it will last u a good 5 years before major headache will come ahain (provided u constantly care for it).

7 year old, you'll have a number of items to change.Maintenance will be high and you should not cut corners. However once you fix all the bugs, you'll enjoy the car tremendously!

Btw get a 325. The 2.5 liter engine has that extra punch that makes all the difference. I always enjoyed my brothers 325 better than my 320 although his was E46 and mine E90!

Hi Mkartik,

7 year old E90? Here are just a few of the common issues that you are likely to face:

1) Transmission - e.g. jerking when coming to a stop. What you need to do is then change the solenoids (6 of them). Will cost you around 5-8k depending on who you go to. If the previous owner has already changed it, then fine.

2) Control arms....not critical, but usually the car's road handling will not be tip-top if the owner has never changed the control arms since new purchase. To get the best of the car change the control arms + other suspension parts.

3) Suspension - same as no. 2).

4) Sensor failures that will cause engine/error check lights to come up.

5) Your usual signal and brake light replacements

as per advice, the 325 is a better car. If you're going to spend money to do up a car anyway, spend it on a better model.
