How's the suspension on the car? I bought the 408t 7months back. Power & handling is great with the car except suspension. It seems rather harsh. Since PSA took over Citroen, wondering how it is?

Peugeot took over Citroen in the 70s and formed PSA bro..

From what I could gather, Citroen's ride had suffered recently..especially with the DS5 and DS4. These 2 cars are crying out for the hydroneumatic suspension but somehow Citroen is not fitting it to these cars.

The current C5 still rides beautifully...but really, nothing could beat the ride of the 1st gen C5 and Xantia. Magic carpet smile_thumbup.gif

The suspension is very comfortable biggrin.gif

I can roll over medium size potholes without needing to slow down.
This is an advantage during traffic jam when the road has some potholes.
When other cars in the next lane slow down for the pothole, I can keep moving and easily cut into their lane smile_tongue.gif

The steering and handling is not the sharpest.
And if you like to do high speed cornering, this is not for you.

I've never tried the Xantia so i've no idea how my car is like compared to it.
How does magic carpet feel like?

it's surreal. Imagine all the little road imperfections and smalle potholes disappear. You'll no longer feel the "speed-breaker" stripes on the road. You could just speed through those speed bumps. it's feels like you are riding on water and not physical springs.

But the tradeoff is, and this is especially true in the Xantia, some people will get a bit of "sea sickness". smile_tongue.gif Sometimes the suspension computer is trying to be funny by increasing and decreasing your car height at traffic lights.

If I have mechanical knowledge, I will get myself a cheapo Xantia, service and repair it myself, just to experience the serenity... smile_thumbup.gif

You got a good comfortable car there. I always liked the new C5 better than the Pug 508. I feel that the Pug is trying so hard not to "feel" french, whereas even though the C5 is advertised as a "French German Car", it still feels like a proper French car. wink.gif

i think the ride of the newer Pijots & Citrons are not as soft/comfortable as the older models.
They are tuned more for firm ride.

My advice...dun do this that often. Pity your hydraulic system.
Though you may not feel the pothole, but your suspension have to "swallow" it up for you.

You know those speedbumps along the Zoo Negara road? I've seen an XM just accelerated and glide over those bumps. Amazing.

And when you have problem one day with the hydralic system, the cars on the slow lane will cut back into your lane. smile_tongue.gif
