For all those of you who would be travelling in Kuantan or making a journey to Kuantan during this monsoon season, please beware. The stretch of road called the Kuantan bypass road is badly damaged in places. In particular, be extra careful as you approach the stretch opposite Taman Datuk Rashid (heading towards the Kuantan port). Due to excessive flooding last Monday ( the 26th of December), a big section of the left of this dual lane carriageway has broken off, leaving behind a sort of deep groove. Many car owners fell victim to this stretch, as many were seen having parked their vehicles on the road shoulder and changing their tyres. There was even a car carrier loaded with Nissan Almeras stranded for hours due to multiple tyre failures. If you are new to this stretch but have to travel along this route, please do so during the day, as visibility at night isn't any help. If it rains, try avoiding the journey altogether. Once the road is covered in water, this groove is a terrible trap. Please take note.
