Hi Guys,

I am a new comer here.
I am deciding if I should get a 2003 Rexton 290 xdi?
I saw a couple of them in Mudah.my and the vehicle is within my budget.

I need you guys to advice as I have never owned a Korean vehicle before.
Appreciate if you guys could give me your feed backs.

Thanks in advance

Hi, most of us here did not encourage to buy RX290 as it's giving lots of problem. But if the condition was very good and you're satisfied with it, then why not. Actually RX290 is a good vehicle if the previous owner taking good care of it.

Do join us at Facebook Group to find more. You can join Ssangyong_Hub or RextonHub Group. See you there.

Hi Khairie,

Thanks for your info.
Could you be more specific or give me an example of the problems the RX 290 has?
So when I go and view the car tomorrow I could look out for them?
Is it true that the ignition keys are coded? Without the original the car cannot start?
The advert I saw is in Mudah.my.
Its a 2003 RX 290 xdi with full spec. Condition? Not sure from photo looks good but have to see and test to judge.

Give me some advice on what to look out for in the vehicle.
Appreciate your help and I will join you guys in facebook soon.

regards,
Patrick

performance wise very different.
164hp vs 120hp
15-19 sen/km vs 22-26 sen/km
195 kmh vs 160 kmh
5 speed vs 4 speed
speed sensing power steering vs normal power steering
easily tune up vs hard tune up( if you like more power)

with a price different not much now, better if you go for rx270

Hi Patrick,

The most common problem with RX290 is the gearbox. Hard gear shifting and sometime gear drop. Other than that, the 4x4 system.

Most of the previous Rexton owner had disable the immobiliser system, and replace the original alarm to aftermarket..

Happy hunting bro.

Hi Guys,

I am taking your advices and going for the RX 270 xdi.
Its about 11K more but I guess it will be for the better.
I am very confused as I have seen couple of the 270s around.
One of them had all the specs like, sunroof, leather seats, but the gear shift is still the 4 speed design instate of the 5 speed design.
I look into the page in Autoworld talking about the new 2004 Rexton. There are 2 models, XDi and the XDi-Lux.
How can I tell the difference when I view the car?
Is there anywhere In or outside the car I can see that will tell me its either a Lux or just a XDi model?

There is one RX 270 XDi in Kajang which I will make a point to view it on Christmas day.
http://www.mudah.my/...04-19426351.htm
It looks good from the photos but never will know how till viewed.
Any advice on what I should be looking out for when viewing this car?

I will be going down there first thing in the morning.
If you should have any advice please either, call, sms or whatsapp me at 0178780656.
I am open for suggestions.

Hope the car turns out to be the one that I am looking for. It will make a great Christmas present for myself.
Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you.

Cheers!!!!

Happy New Year, everyone just back from year end holiday.

All RX270XDI comes in 5 speeds, if not it could have been misled by the Car Dealer. RX290 and RX270XDI looks very different from the dashboard, engine bay, etc..
