Yesterday afternoon, driving out suddenly "tong-tong-tong" sound then smoke gush out from the front tyres. I thought the tyres burst at first, came down and inspect , tyres was OK but strong plastic burning smell. Open the engine cover, belt OK, cant see anything burnt. At this point, the AC no longer functioning, suspecting the compressor gone, switch off the AC and drive to Kia Service center. Immediately the Tech confirmed the AC compressor "Jam". Asked me to Aircond shop to replace the unit. Intially he thought the same unit as Citra but the nightmare turn into reality. smile_angry.gif

At the Aircond shop, they checked the compressor is not the same with Citra and checked several places, no one has keep this compressor. No choice, I called up NazaKia Spare Part, yes they have stock but OMG the price quoted RM 3.8K smile_question.gif smile_question.gif smile_question.gif

What the heck the "local" brand car that the compressor alone cost this much. Really crazy!!!

Sifu/Bro any "lubang" to get those recond one or used unit?

Sorry to hear that bro.

Mileage sekarang sudah berapa ratus ribu?

I remember yours is 2008 fully CBU Rondo so I guess no a/c shop carry that compressor model. Can share what model?

3.8K is too much smile_shock.gif

oredi hits 140K KM. too crazy for the price! Probably need to do some conversion job. Get the nearest size compressor with correct mounting that will be easier for the sifu to convert.

let me source around tomorrow to see if possible to convert or not. Will let u all know the result.

The model on the drawing is 97701

Wish me luck smile_tongue.gif

How much would you expect it to cost? I am sure a competent air-cond shop will be able to modify a local compressor to fit.

I just call Glenmarie SC they quoted 1.8K for OEM parts and another 500-600 for labour and misc. Total circa 2.5K with 3 months waranty.

The problem with customized/recond compressor is limited waranty, kadang-kadang satu minggu saja waranty.

My dear friend,

I would say Naza is very crazy to make profit from their loyal customer who had been supporting them, like myself, being the 1st batch of very daring to buy their Rondo without knowing how their performance and reliability, kena slaugther by their sparepart price.

Don't worry Naza, plenty of option out there. From reconditioning unit to modify/conversion or to simply just repair the broken compressor, the price is less than half of your offer.

I am still considering which option to go, the cheapest will be replacing the cluth/pulley unit. The sifu said he needs open out and check for the condition to see which part spoilt, if can change only the cluth pully unit, then will be very much cost saving.

Again to Naza, keep the crazy pricing to yourself forever. Those who want to opt for Naza/Kia car, please be reconsider seriously as the After Sales Service will slaughter you.

Just for comparison reference why I said Naza Crazy,
Toyata Camry AC Compressor - Original quoted by Toyota SC @ RM 1.3K VS Naza Rondo AC Compressor - Original quoted by Naza SC @ RM 3.8K! Bravo!!

Hi Okwaja,

Sorry to hear about your case. I am just thinking out loud that since Kia is pretty popular is Singapore perhaps you can get the compressor cheaper? ;-) Just a thought..
