That one is a Viva right....even worst than Myvi. Super skinny rubber and very light body.

My Michelin only had 40% left on the front and will skid on a wet surface if pushed a little hard.
Scary but it can teach one to learn his vehicle inside out.

Advise is...slow down when it rains regardless what tyre u used.

Skinny tyres should not aquaplane that easy, but braking will be very very poor......probably lock the brakes.... smile_shock.gif

Michelins tyre recommends new tyres at the rear. Worn out tyres at rear higher potential to cause aquaplanning at rear causing car to spin out of control. Believe many have seen this video, may be some not yet esp those from the tyre shops. smile_blackeye.gif

that's what we call "aquaplanning"

perhaps he abruptly release the throttle making the kembara rear goes fishy and finding its way to the drain on the roadside laugh.gif

I think so too. You can see a lot of water sprayed out by the tyres.

The Kembara is a light vehicle and comes with 205 section tyres as standard fitment. This is a recipe for disaster especially when the tyres are semi worn out.

FYI
The Toyota Estima comes with the same size tyre/rim combo as the Kembara but compare the size and weight of these two vehicles.

was rushing from seri kembangan to batu pahat to make urgent delivery during the late 90s
10:30pm left serdang ... bout 2am reached BP

while on the way ... 3 series beemer + nissan AD resort (right on the beemer's tail) flew by me ... in the rain
long straight stretch
i was doing 130km/h in a 1986 sunny
seeing them fly past, i slowed down and maintained 100-110km/h, sometimes pushing 120km/h but no more

in hindsight, that was very foolish, deadline or no deadline

i've skidded a number of times .. nothing serious thankfully
sometimes fender bender but still nothing like these in the vids
even tho i like to drive fast in the rain, i've reined myself in now for family's sake
ain't NO tyre that will keep one stuck to the road like flypaper ... once you exceed its limits
given enough snow/ice/slush, even spiked snow tyres will skid

aquaplaning is no joke, plenty scary
can't even counter as you're riding on water .. totally out of control ... can only pray

been driving my satria with 10% front thread of semi slick tyre (while rear thread still at 97% at the same time) in heavy rain...

on highways at 80km/h the car keep my adrenaline rushing nonstop all the way from taiping untill rawang (where the rain stops) to make it even better...it was in the middle of the night......

not for the fainthearted driver..... laugh.gif

One man's meat another man's poison. Others having nightmares of drifting and spinning while very few looking for thrills. smile_thumbup.gif

Bro, may I humble suggest you upgrade from rally to power boat championship. It would be much safer on the sea and lakes compares with our highways. smile_tongue.gif
