Dear Fordies,
Went to Ford this morning to service my Escape & also for New Ranger Auto
("BEHAVE & RESPECT") launching.
Last few months, I asked Ford if they can import Escape 3.0L V6 & today
they confirmed Ford M'sia will bring Escape 3.0L V6 Duratec, CKD by end 2003.
If I based on UK price, this V6 model should be ~RM105K without tax. I can
tell you guys, I'm gonna among the first owners!!!!!!!!!!!
Escape 3.0L V6 Duratec should come with standard x'sories : sunroof, cruise
control, leather seat, 16" 5 spoke sport rim & more. Don't forget the 3.0L
V6 Duratec delivers 201hp!
Hold yr breath, it gonna blow-out it rivals, CRV & X-Trail!!!
Really eager to own it!!!!!

No way the price can be that low. Last time when the Escape was launched
here, I asked about the V6 and they said that the price calculated at
that time for a CBU would be RM210,000. So if they assemble it locally,
obviously it will be subject to lower tax and be less than RM200K. What
sort of price do you think would be reasonable for a 3.0V6 Escape?

WOW! That shld be the way man.
Maybe Ford can repackage the 2.0 into RM120K and then V6 for
RM150K ... ???
Then, it be will really, really attractive!!!
Else, wait longer for AFTA.

Meger,
If you really want work in Labuan with better pay, I would suggest you join 1
of these business:
1) Oil & Gas
2) Offshore banking
3) Pub & Disco operator
4) Car dealer (but not Proton/Perodua dealer please!!)
Labuan, nice place, nice cars & also nice girls (shew... hope my wife don't
read the last one!!)

Chips,
My mileage? Since Escape is my 2nd car, I don't drive it too often. It just
celebrated its 1st birthday & mileage just clocked 10K KM. Some friends who
drive it regularly, average mileage will be 1500-2000KM/month.
In Labuan, just drive it around the island, which is 85% tarmac road, 10%
cement roads at kampung area & 5% is sandy beaches.
Most of us, The Islanders, will go out to Borneo Mainland up to maximum 30
days/year. FYI, Tax-free vehicles are only allowed max 30 days/year away
from Labuan, regardless how many trips you make. Some friends drive upto
Kuching (Labuan - Kuching ~1,500KM) & for me a MUST BALIK KAMPUNG holiday
once or twice/year (Labuan - Tawau ~800 KM).
Borneo highway is not as good as highway @ Peninsula, thats why SUV is
really suitable here.

How long does it take to get to the mainland? Regular ferry service?
