Euro 4 will allow them opportunity to hike the fuel price more.
Euro 4 will allow import of more fuel efficient vehicles that can go >20km/l to Msia.
But then our local Potong cannot run on diesel so no benefit to them so no rush.
Then only benefit is excuse for fuel hike with Euro 4 quality fuel.
Thailand and Spore already Euro 4, why as fuel production nation we tak boleh aft many moons??
All these delays due to screw up NAP in the past, abuse of cheap fuel to subsidies no other than Potong .. blah blah no thanks to the Old Horse lah.

So diesels will become the victim.
Only forum people realize the potential benefit of diesels.
But can't blame decision making people the media is putting too much hype and attention on electric/hybrid cars.
I think I'll be old by the time we get the same euro diesel cars as European.

if you got black smoke, it's nothing to do with the fuel, more likely your engine needs servicing. Black smoke is result of unburnt fuel, white smoke is result of not enough fuel being burnt. Unburnt fuel cause can be becos blocked intercooler, worn injectors or blocked air filter. The air/fuel mixture in incorrect, that's why u got black smoke. Or if you fit one of those piggy back "performance chips", also give u black smoke on acceleration.

... but black smoke from green engine isn't bad compare to the Co2 emission by petrol. Only in canland that those sitting with their fancy positions still think petrol engine's smoke is better. the trend now even for diesel, they create smaller engine capacity without mitigating the performance in hp/torque. with euro II, which engine don't spew black smoke?
if you notice in north (don't consider hatyai or those near the order because they consume euro II from us) and south large lorries hardly with visible black smoke - leave alone "over-loaded" and maintenance issues.

With cheap & subsidised fuel price, there is no good reason for electric / hybrid car as payback is way too long. Not to mention lifecycle cost of the battery and charger. Replacement every 5-10yrs? Hybrid/electric will only make sense when fuel price floating according to crude oil price. How much now? Usd106?
GE coming to town, no way they are going to hike the fuel price now. It is a suicide mission like 2008.
Potong is rushing to come up with hybrid. Only when Potong is ready, GE over, then only they will scrap the fuel subsidies, stage by stage. May be another round of sweetening like cutting road tax, syoik sendiri factor kena tipu for a yr then back to square one.
In the first place, auto policy was flawed since '80. Too late to rectify already. No choice got to bite the bullet and take the most bitter medicine in the coming days, no thanks to this Apanama Doc lah.
