I suppose SMA is doing the right thing not to launch this car here. It simply does not have the resources to fight in a C/D segment category .... an area in which Suzuki has no market share and not even thought of as an alternative. To change this perception, it would require the company lots of time and money .... quite pointless if the total number of units are too few to justify.

Price is the key. Grand Vitara is putting up a good show against the more established marques. Kizashi should play the same game. Just don`t expect it to sell like honda or toyota.

With all due respect, the Vitara has been around for quite a while. In fact, it`s almost as synonymous as the Suzuki brand. Mention Kizashi to any non-auto inclined person, you'll probably be drawing a blank stare. So you've got to run A&P, training for the sales and technical staffs, maintain a spare parts warehouse AND marginalize ur profits to sell more cars .... what's the point?

The Kizashi could very well be a potential contender against the new Jetta for the hearts of buyers, as it is likely to be priced lower than the Jetta. Size-wise, they're about the same.

Advantage of Jetta would be the TSI engine and DSG gearbox, probably the best combo for any car priced at this range or even higher (if indeed this is the eventual spec for Msian market). The Kizashi would likely trump the Jetta on overall handling. The Jetta would trump back the Kizashi in terms of fuel consumption and overall drivetrain efficiency.

Let's not talk about model visibility and acceptance, as both would be rather fuzzy to the Msian car public. The same can be expected of the RV for both if u are one of concern about this matter.

Ironically, the Kizashi looks a bit like the mk5 Golf GTI from certain front angles, and the Jetta looks like the current A4.

Hmmm, not a bad alternative to the Jetta then?

Wait for the CKD Jetta and Passat....
