Hi guys, just test drove a 2008 XC90 yesterday. All in all it was a good drive, by my own very amateurish standards. But taking corners, I experienced quite a bit of body roll. In fact, my friend who was riding in the passenger seat was feeling a little queasy after the ride.

Although I was stepping on the gas a little bit around the corner, I'm thinking the body roll is still quite bad. Is this normal?

Can an aftermarket anti-roll bar fix the problem? Have any of you XC90 owners fitted something like this? Any recommendations?

I dont own a V XC90 (have intended to buy a 2nd hand one, but after considering it a few year old car and the possible of repairs cropping up) finally got a new SUV, of other make.
Due to the higher body of a SUV, body roll is surely not as good as a lower body saloon car.
Cannot drive so fast and take corners like a saloon!
I have my SUV fitted a complete sets of anti roll bar and 2 points and 4 points and stud bar. (Total 4 pcs) for my SUV, after installed I found it to be more stable, less body roll and stiffer and less body roll on corners. big improvement!

Hi James, saw your posting in VOCM for same question but didnt post the reply as i thought better let's XC90 owners to reply you.. but since you post the same question here then i will try to share my experience with you...

As my S60R are also in AWD like your but in much lower gravity so my body roll are not as bad as your but my car tent to have this so call "Sky Hook" when i pushing on high speed cornering, one side of my rear wheel will lift up from the ground.. so to solve the problem i replaced my rear & front anti roll bar (ARB) with thicken diameter from 22mm to 25mm, with this upgrade it ready solved my "sky hook" problem..and to my surprise it also solved my boating feeling in high way speeding as well as it reduced my car oversteer characteristic..

So i will recommended you try to changed the ARB from stock to thicken diameter that will help to reduce your body roll to certain level and if your financially are ok then advise to buy the ARB from IPD (will cost around rm3.5K all in) instead of Ultraracing as few are used ultraracing had experience the rubbibg sound from undercarriege..

And to further enhance on your car road handling you should also consider adding the front struct bar...for this you can get from ultraracing as it had been proved with not side effect.

Thanks for the reply, guys.

V406198, How do you buy the anti-roll bars from IPD? Online shopping? Or do they sell them here in Malaysia?

Thanks for that. Quite steep from IPD, with shipping! This may have to wait. smile.gif
Also noticed that UR doesn't have the anti-roll bar, must be due to the complaints they got. Although I did find a UR anti-roll bar at maxaudio.com.my. Hmm... smile.gif

But thanks for the help.

I know this is old thread. But I owned XC-90 before. It had anti-roll bars fitted. I felt it still cannot even hold as stable as X5 without any modification. This overrated suv is as bad a a Murano with anti-roll bar. Wish i road test a lot more as there was traffic jam where I tested twice.

Yes, me too - 3 years ago I was interested in a XC90 too, but too high price and 4-5 yrs of age and at that price (RM170-180k) I got myself a brand new 4wd SUV for less and with5 yrs warranty and etc..... lastest newest model in the market.

Your are right! Now with it 9th yrs age, it is good to steer off as the repair and maintenance bills will not be low! unless you really like it so much and have 1 in your garage.

Go for the XC60 !

just my 1cts!
