Flee, my first NCT5 (made in phinoy) last about 40k km with patient. Subsequently, with power upgrade and a lot of highspeed highway, I hardly get 30k km. Now pass 100k km and i am going for 4th set next month.

Very good for you!

Just met up with my friend and it seems that the Yokohama C-drive 2 is more durable than the Nexen N8000s. After 10,000 kms installed at the back, the wear seems to be less than that of the N8000 (which lasted around 15K km). It will definitely do more than 15K km but whether it can beat the OEM Goodyear NCT5's 20K km is to be seen. Got to wait till the mileage piles on...
Regards,
Flee

Let me share with you my experience with tyre wear on Focus... But mine is the TDCi hatchback model.

Points to note, my TDCi has already clocked over 103,000km in 2 years.

1. Stock NCT5 (205/55/16) lasted me about 32,000km before all 4 totally botak-ed.

2. Upgraded to 17inch rims - Hankook Ventus V12

3. Roadstone / NEXEN N9000

4. Achiles ATR Sports.

Generally, each set of tyre lasted my on average 30,000km to 40,000km. Which translate to about every 8 months.

The rear will have more inside wear, due to the natural -ve camber toe of all Focus, about 1.5 ~ 1.8 if I'm not mistaken.

Rate of wear very much dependent on :
(1) Driving style - High torque = High acceleration, also harder braking.
(2) Hard cornering.
(3) Important to maintain tyre pressure. Recommended is 32psi, but I would say at least 34psi.
My current is 36psi fronts and 34psi rears.
(4) Maintain a tyre maintainance schedule. Personally I feel, every 10,000km at minimum.
Balancing, alignment and pressure check ! Also check for rim dents.
For those on asymmetry design tyre, best to do it every 5,000km - again depending on driving style.

Hope that helps...

Good to perform tyre rotation as well to even out your tyre wear.

Is it worth trading in the tires of a new tdci for new set immediately upon taking car or is that a waste as trade in value is low even if tire is brand new? Thinking of changing rims as well.
